An informal reunion

Class of 1974
(Michael Jarvin, Rod Mitchell, Ron Loewy, Ross Bowey, Michael Della Marta, Stephen Clarke and Rob Gordon)

Some of the Old Boys (Class of ’74) popped along to an informal reunion watching the Rugby Firsts in a wonderfully entertaining game against Grammar. They were also joined later by Paul Almond ’81) and his wife Susan.

Class of 1974
Michael Jarvin, Ron Loewy, Ian Bray and Ross Bowey discuss venues for the post match discussion.

Such a good time was had by all we decided to support the school at the next Head of the River (9 March 2013) to be followed by a lunch at a venue yet to be decided. Supporting the School and catching up with school mates – an excellent way to spend a day. Such a good time was had we are also holding another informal reunion next competition match when High plays Grammar.

Lots more photos of the game are available at http://www.sydneyhigh.org.au/rugby/

New pontoon christening

Rowing badge

A gala christening ceremony for the School’s new pontoon will be the centrepiece of a special rowing reunion cocktail party at the Outterside Centre rowing sheds on Saturday 29 January 2011 from 5pm to 8pm. Please contact your old crewmates and come along to catch up with old friends and support the new generation of High rowers.

For further information on the event please contact Katharine Deacon, at rowing@shsobu.org.au or 0435 207 094 or download the booking form.

The new state-of-the-art, steel pontoon and upgraded ramp will replace the 26-year-old pontoon which reached the end of its life and sank last rowing season. With the replacement pontoon, High will be able to use the rowing sheds at full capacity again as well as generate more income to support the School’s rowing program from learn-to-row and other fund-raising activities. The Sydney High School Foundation is funding the very large cost of this essential project with substantial contributions from the High Club ($50,000) and donations by current rowing parents ($50,000).

The OBU is looking for donations from Old Boys to boost the funding significantly and free up Foundation funds for other much needed projects for the School. All donors will be recognised on an honour board in the boatshed and donors of at least $250 will each be recognised with a metal plaque attached to a plank in the deck of the new ramp.

All donations made via the Sydney Boys High School Australian Sports Foundation Donation Scheme will be fully tax-deductible. Under the School’s Scheme, all funds donated through the Australian Sports Foundation for “Rowing – Facility Development” will be returned to the School and applied to the cost of the pontoon.

To make a donation please download the donor form, fill it out (remembering to enter the amount of your donation in the “Rowing” box in the “Facility Development” column), print and return it to the School at the address on the form.
