A gala christening ceremony for the School’s new pontoon will be the centrepiece of a special rowing reunion cocktail party at the Outterside Centre rowing sheds on Saturday 29 January 2011 from 5pm to 8pm. Please contact your old crewmates and come along to catch up with old friends and support the new generation of High rowers.
For further information on the event please contact Katharine Deacon, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 0435 207 094 or download the booking form.
The new state-of-the-art, steel pontoon and upgraded ramp will replace the 26-year-old pontoon which reached the end of its life and sank last rowing season. With the replacement pontoon, High will be able to use the rowing sheds at full capacity again as well as generate more income to support the School’s rowing program from learn-to-row and other fund-raising activities. The Sydney High School Foundation is funding the very large cost of this essential project with substantial contributions from the High Club ($50,000) and donations by current rowing parents ($50,000).
The new pontoon being delivered
The OBU is looking for donations from Old Boys to boost the funding significantly and free up Foundation funds for other much needed projects for the School. All donors will be recognised on an honour board in the boatshed and donors of at least $250 will each be recognised with a metal plaque attached to a plank in the deck of the new ramp.
All donations made via the Sydney Boys High School Australian Sports Foundation Donation Scheme will be fully tax-deductible. Under the School’s Scheme, all funds donated through the Australian Sports Foundation for “Rowing – Facility Development” will be returned to the School and applied to the cost of the pontoon.
To make a donation please download the donor form, fill it out (remembering to enter the amount of your donation in the “Rowing” box in the “Facility Development” column), print and return it to the School at the address on the form.
