The Record Digitised

High Old Boy Joseph Waugh PSM (‘87), a former President of the SHSOBU, has been working after hours and on weekends for years, to digitise all editions of The Record. This has been a painstaking process of scanning page after page of old documents from 150 editions since 1909. He was also assisted by Mark Gainford, teacher and former editor, and the school’s archivist Merinda Kavich.

The entire Sydney High School community past and present owes Joseph an enormous debt of gratitude for his care and passion in confronting this enormous task and prevailing. The editions of The Record from 1909 to 2022 are now ready to be accessed at the link below. The only missing editions are 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2001 - which will hopefully be completed and added to the link in the future.

For over 100 years, The Record has been the annual journal of Sydney Boys High School. Each edition records the state of Sydney Boys High School, its staff and students, their triumphs, their successes and their hopes. The Record is the most important archival document of Sydney Boys High School and copies of previous editions can be located in the school Archives, the NSW State Library and on this website.

This collection is the amalgamation of thousands of articles contributed by students and staff and product of many thousands of hours donated by the publication's line of editors.

Please note: past issues of The Record in this collection are provided for interest and should be read in their historical context. Readers are warned that some articles may contain language and attitudes that are not considered appropriate today and may offend.
