12 MAY ALL HIGH OLD BOY LUNCH: CELEBRATING HIGH SUCESS

More than 330 passionate High Old Boys rallied round together on Friday 12 May at the Australian Turf Club Function Centre from 12noon to 4pm to celebrate High success and to have fun doing just that. Our MC Mark Swivel, Dux of the Class of 1983, lead the celebration and a powerful and very emotional opening video set the mood for the afternoon. Paul Harapin, OBU President welcomed Dr. Kim Jaggar OAM SHS Headmaster, GPS OBU Presidents and all Old Boys including former Prime Minister, The Right Honourable Scott Morrison. Paul outlined an impressive School achievement history and some Old Boy achievements both of which were captured in a silent video that played throughout the afternoon. This group also included over 30 former High School Captains, possibly the largest group ever assembled in one room in the history of the school.

John Stanley, Class of 1973 Radio Broadcaster, interviewed Evan Wong, Class of 2010, CEO & Co-Founder of Checkbox and George Miller AO, Class of 1963, Filmmaker, Director, Producer & Writer, both discussions were very thought provoking and entertaining.  George’s movie reel was "worth the price of admission". Sam Makhoul, Class of 1993, was sandwiched in between Evan and George, as he brought Dr. Tomaso D’Sousa PHD hoax keynote speaker alive with a very funny presentation on AI and the future of education. Sam harpooned selective schools, Elon Musk and both current and future parents generally. He capped his presentation by bringing Spot, the robot dog on stage (credit to Spire Group) and by enabling his AI self to close out the hoax (credit to IBM) while Sam amused himself by having Spot respond to various commands.

A very entertaining afternoon of celebration and fun was capped off with a boisterous rendition of the School song lead by a very enthusiastic hastily assembled Old Boy Choir and an after party at the Doncaster Hotel in Kensington. Sincere thanks to all attendees and to our four sponsors:
